Job Description – Legal Counsel

In-house Legal Counsel that provides a full range of advice and services on matters of law including commercial, data protection, real estate, employment and/or disputes. This may include review and draft of legal documents, manage risk, conduct negotiations on behalf of the organisation and liaising with external counsel. Responsibilities are within the Legal function as a generalist or in a combination of disciplines. May act as a contract liaison between the organisation and customers/vendors, including participation in pre contract discussions, contract negotiations and contract changes. Assesses commercial risk of contracts.

Candidates will need fluency in both Spanish and English to be considered for the role. The role is working remotely and candidates can be based anywhere in Spain.

General Tasks:

  • Providing the organisation with effective legal advice and solutions focused on business growth and organisational efficiency

  • Working closely with and advising all the business units

  • Liaising with external counsel

  • Participation in negotiations of commercial contracts including data processing agreements

  • Overseeing the accuracy of contracts

  • Overseeing / and managing legal risks, defining the legal risk and ensuring compliance of the company's operations within the laws and internal policies

  • Providing legal advice and support to the organisation's Board of Directors and management team

  • Translating global solutions into local solutions and initiatives

  • Takes care of the entrusted property and assets of the company

  • Takes care of the company's good image and internal and external PR of the company

  • Observes and monitors the application of the company's work organisation in force, as well as bylaws, procedures and other internal instructions

Qualifications:

  • University degree in law

  • Very good knowledge of civil and commercial law

Skills (including foreign language skills):

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills

  • Very good organisation of own and team work

  • Very good knowledge of English and Spanish (including legal terminology)

  • Very good knowledge of civil, commercial and labour laws

  • A focus on finding and initiating solutions that lead to business growth

  • Experience and excellent skills in working with business/lines of business, being a trusted expert and partner to the business

  • Leadership skills

  • Experience in dealing with Public Procurement

  • High negotiating competence

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the profession

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an in-house legal department, in an international organisation

  • Practice in reputable law firms

  • Experience in working with the Board of Directors
