Senior Project Manager, Data Center Strategic Design and Solutions – North America (Remote)
The Sr. Project Manager of Data Center Strategic Design and Solutions is responsible for the design of data center facilities and data center solutions at the strategic level that meet the business needs of Iron Mountain Data Centers and its colocation customers throughout North America. The incumbent will serve as Design and Construction’s primary interface with Global Accounts during the development of solutions and proposals for wholesale data customers, and will provide design development and management as needed as a senior member of the Design and Construction team.
Support Sr Director of Design and Construction in the development of data center solutions for wholesale data center customers within new and existing facilities.
Support Global Accounts and Solutions Engineering in developing solutions to support the pursuit of business opportunities within North America.
Lead and manage third party architectural and engineering teams in the conceptual and schematic design of data center projects in accordance with Iron Mountain data center design standards, construction budgets and schedule requirements.
Work with outside parties such as developers, consultants, equipment manufacturers, construction managers, and third party project management firms in order to deliver projects
Provided technical analysis and development of existing/proposed architectures and products for current and future business lines.
Assist in evaluation of potential data center properties. Interface with outside consultants and Iron Mountain departments in evaluating opportunities.
Provide design and engineering oversight to include budget, schedule and overall product delivery on assigned critical infrastructure activities and projects.
Promote a responsible platform of inclusion and diversity within the Design and Development team.
Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies:
In-depth knowledge of the colocation data center business and the recent market developments
In-depth knowledge of complex electrical, mechanical, life safety and control systems associated with critical facilities or data centers.
Knowledge of how to develop capital budgets and forecasts.
Professional written, presentation, and customer relationship skills.
Creating, building, and managing relationships with key suppliers, business partners, and internal customers are vital to this position.
Total travel 25%; overnight travel 25%.
Ability to travel internationally when required.
Education/Experience: 4 year college degree required, Master's degree preferred / 7 - 10 years required, 10 + years preferred.
A minimum of five years’ experience in managing project management teams.
A minimum of ten years in design and construction project delivery.
Professional Engineering license is preferred, but not required.
This remote based position supports U.S. based efforts nationwide and can be based anywhere in the continental U.S.
