Job Summary: The Oracle DBA reports to the Manager of the Service Transition Global IT team. The role is

responsible for extensive experience with DBA front-end and back-end tools,excellent problem-solving skills, and

hands-on experience with Oracle database management.Ultimately, a top-level Oracle DBA can expertly manage a

company’s database system to maximize performance and efficiency.

Global Database Infrastructure

Responsibilities include:

  • Able to use documentation tools to follow and maintain technical plans and

procedures

  • Excellent verbal communication during project & Senior stakeholder meetings

  • Good verbal communication skills representing Database team during strategic

planning and database architectural reviews with projects

  • Communicating on technical challenges to project managers & service owners

  • Provide 24/7 support of production database services to ensure the highest

standards of availability resilience, integrity, security and performance

  • Provide infrastructure support in accordance with all applicable and defined SLA's

covering the defined supported estate for Change, Incident and Problem activities

  • Focusing and prioritizing on the key deliverables for all those applications deemed

critical to BT’s Operations

  • Monitor database performance, propose and implement agreed performance

enhancing changes

  • 24x7 On-call support for Production Incident resolution

  • Experience in implementing operational automation using shell scripts, PERL , AWL,

SED

Reporting: Produce regular and accurate management reports related to KPIs/KRIs, metrics,

deliverable status and progress of security and compliance related initiatives.

Present to Senior Leaders on status of initiatives and service improvements as required 10%

F Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Responsible for installation support focusing on the design, installation, configuration, development,

integration, implementation, and

  • Knowledge of Red Hat

  • testing of Oracle database services in a complex environment with multiple classification enclaves and

integrated with Department of Defense (DoD) Command and Control (C2) systems utilizing associated

information assurance (IA) processes/procedures

  • Manage and maintain backups and recovery procedures

  • Hands-on" experience with general Oracle Database Administration

  • DR and High Availability solutions such as Data Guard, RAC

  • Install and maintain database server, replication and client environments

  • Develops and implements plans to oversee the database administration function and ensures smooth

transition to new technology

  • Familiarity with standard database monitoring tools (OEM)

  • Experienced with RAC environment

  • Strong optimization and tuning experience.

  • Database conversions

  • Migrating code, database changes and data through the various stages of development

  • Database patching and upgrade support

  • Follows, defines and manages enterprise level policies and procedures that ensure the security,

optimization and integrity of Oracle database environments

  • Anticipates and resolves database performance, capacity and replication issues

  • Diagnose and address database performance issues

  • Understands standard concepts, practices and procedures relating to database and associated

technologies

  • Manages database backup & recovery procedures, disaster recovery preparation and the associated

exercises

  • Produces reports on database systems related to availability, performance, capacity management and

SLAs

  • Collaborates with SAN, server, applications and operational staff in support of database objectives

Business Expertise: The senior DBA is expected to understand how EIT can support Iron Mountain’sBusiness model and

objectives. organization's business lines and products, underlying infrastructure services and

platforms both on premises and cloud based, and optimize these platforms to maximize

efficiency and business value.

organization to mitigate risks and issues. Collaborates with Support teams, Subject Matter

Experts and Project Managers to develop and implement realistic short term and long term

solutions.
