The Director ofCommercial Operations and Chief of Staff, Data Management, serves as the focal point for matters of collaboration among the Data Management leadership team, and the principle point of coordination with adjacent business units. As a trusted and empowered executive, this individual assists the GM with financial, operational and general management activities for the entire global DM business. This role is also responsible for leading and executing select strategic initiatives that drive revenue growth, increase contribution margins and deliver increased process efficiency for the entire business.

Additionally, this role is responsible for the design and execution of communications specific to Data Management to internal and external stakeholders including employees, C-Suite executives, customers, Board of Directors, Analysts and Investors. She/he owns all DM leadership and planning forums and communication channels including All Hands Calls, QBR’s, annual planning meetings, kickoff events and other leadership forums. She/he owns the DM Leadership key event and meeting schedule.

She/he also occasionally represents the Data Management business and may be a proxy for the GM and SVP when needed. This requires having a deep understanding of the global DM service portfolio, value propositions, financial measures and performance, product/service roadmaps, successes, plans, and team members.

The role serves as liaison to selected strategic partners for matters of collaboration on go-to-market endeavors and coordinating broad IRM participation in strategic programs. It also manages various global interfaces that are relevant to DM’s mission to develop and deploy solutions for IRM’s operations globally. It is contemplated that a Global Offerings Council will be defined and implemented to serve as the focal point for supply/demand planning around DM’s offerings for various markets.

This role plays an important role in evaluating performance results, identifying and assessing risk factors, managing action item registers and action trackers for DM commitments, keeping track of industry and market intelligence and is expected to provide perspective and points of view on opportunities, threats, risks and issues to be addressed by Data Management and Iron Mountain leadership.

This role also plays a key role collaborating alongside the HR Business Partner and leadership team in the execution of the DM workforce strategy, identifying talent, and opportunities to better align talent and organizational design to strategy.

  • Leads strategic initiatives and reports risks, opportunities results to DM Leadership

  • Designs, leads, coordinates, and maintains accountability for various commercial business functions, to include accounts receivable management, commercial terms exceptions, legal compliance, audit participation, security program compliance, and related activities

  • Organizes and gathers data and points of view from various internal and external sources and synthesizes this into actionable information and recommendations to DM leaders and other executives

  • Serves as a focal point for all Data Management business commitments, and may be designated to represent the overall business intentions, performance, status and plans to various forums

  • She/he works cross-functionally to mobilize Iron Mountain-wide resources to:

  • Communicate the DM vision, mission and status

  • Interlock plans and initiatives

  • Identify and execute on opportunities for collaboration and or improvement

  • Serves as the point person for leading the Global Offerings Council and the planning of geographic portfolio expansion, scoping and prioritizing

  • Identifies and may lead initiatives that support the achievement of multi-year revenue and contribution targets.

  • Monitors all Data Management budget and actuals and identifies gaps and creates action plans

  • Prepare and direct meetings originated by SVP and follow-up on subsequent action items.

  • Ensure that senior staff meetings are well planned and as efficient and impactful as possible

  • Anticipate and direct resolution of issues as needed

  • Liaise with internal communications to ensure alignment with strategic messages across the organization

  • Develops executive presentations and communications deliverables for the SVP as needed

  • Plan, organize and chair business reviews to ensure that departmental goals, objectives and overall progress are being measured and reported on

  • Test alignment and impact of initiatives against long term strategy.

  • Ensure and track that all employees have goals and objectives that drive achievement of DM commitments

  • Provide feedback and measurement on the effectiveness of the executive office

  • Leverages internal and external data to identify opportunities for business growth and or efficiency




The successful candidate will have significant experience working in strategic planning, marketing, finance orstrategy functions, or equivalent experience at a consulting firm. Five or more years’ of experience as a Program Manager, Communications Director or Manager. Five or more years’ experience with strategic planning, marketing, research, or other relevant go-to-market functions. Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task across projects and topics. Excellent communication skills, trust-based approaches to issue management, and strong financial acumen.

Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in business, marketing, finance or related field, MBA preferred

Background/ Experience

  • 5+ years of business leadership in marketing, customer experience, customer loyalty, customer care, or business unit management

  • 3+ years of experience managing complex initiatives and delivering on measurable goals

  • 3+ years of experience with general business management

  • Project Management Professional training

  • Proven experience motivating and managing indirect reports and organizations
