Responsibilities

The Director, Enterprise FP&A leads the Enterprise FP&A team. The Enterprise FP&A team is a small team that sits at the Enterprise level of the Finance organization. The team serves as a financial and analytical hub between the core business units, corporate functions, emerging businesses, enterprise strategy, investors, and senior management. As a team, its covers a wide variety of responsibilities, from defining and driving budgeting and forecasting processes, to evaluating and managing capital allocation decisions, to designing and maintaining executive and REIT related reporting, to conducting ad-hoc analyses for emerging businesses, etc.

As the Director and leader of the group, you are both a financial and analytical athlete, but also all administrative and managerial leader for a 4 member team, encompassing all reviews, professional development, and human resources actions. In addition to management responsibilities, your team responsibilities include:

  • Long-term Planning Process Management and Forecasting

  • In partnership w/Enterprise Strategy and the Enterprise Project Office, defining the multi-year planning process, setting business unit and enterprise target expectations, then influence Divisional CFOs to meet expectations and timelines

  • Consolidating the financial plans into one flexible model that can be the basis for both internal and external purposes (e.g., goodwill impairment, asset test, financing)

  • Coordinating and executing the quarterly Asset Test for the Tax Department and presenting the results to the Board of Directors

  • Coordinating and supporting the annual Goodwill impairment testing process for the Accounting Department and our Audit Partners

  • Providing Hyperion Planning Applications Design & Performance Input around long-term planning applications

  • Short-term Planning Process Management and Forecasting

  • Defining the budgeting process, setting business unit and enterprise target expectations based on multi-year planning, then managing Divisional CFOs to meet expectations and timelines

  • Leveraging financial plans and targets to support HR and Senior Management align Incentive compensation design and reporting with enterprise targets and goals

  • Provide quarterly and annual incentive compensation reporting to HR for the Board of Directors compensation committee

  • Providing Hyperion Planning Applications Design & Performance Input around planning applications

  • Short-term and Historical FP&A and Performance Management

  • Generating monthly flash reporting and commentary for enterprise for the CFO and CEO, as well as Investor Relations

  • Coordinating with Divisional CFOs to ensure the business review processes and forecasting are in place and occurring properly as a mechanism to identify issues and challenge the businesses to deliver on expectations

  • Identify and track trends, metrics, and macro factors that drive business performance and delivering synthesized analytical insights to highlight key business performance risks, issues, and opportunities

  • Create and present to the CFO, Head of Strategy and CEO a monthly Enterprise deck that holistically details the internal drivers and financial metrics of the business and deep dives into key focus areas of performance

  • Build and prepare a quarterly Supplemental Reporting disclosure used for investor relations and SEC compliance

  • Provide quarter reporting and financial analysis for Investor Relations to support Quarterly Earnings Calls

  • Conducts Ad Hoc analytics on key topics using financial, business intelligence, and other data sources/systems.

  • Capital Management and Support

  • Evaluate and provide recommendations to CFO and Divisional CFO’s for real estate investments and acquisition activity

  • Manage allocation of capital consistent with target setting in multi-year planning and budgeting processes

Qualifications

Ideal Qualities

  • Quick learner and problem solver (e.g., a great consultant)

  • Attention to detail and follow through

  • High degree of business acumen

  • Some reasonable level of process orientation

Ideal Capabilities

  • Absolute understanding of corporate finance: balance sheets, income statements, and cash flows and the mechanics

  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and preferably Think-Cell.

  • Familiarity with Hyperion Performance Management Applications, Salesforce.com, Business Objects knowledge also a plus

  • Ability to identify best data sources and issues with data, as well as aggregate and organize large quantities of data from multiple sources

  • Ability to design, construct, analyze and explain financial and other analytics models that are insightful, yet simple and transferrable and teach others to do so

  • Ability to deep-dive into financial and sometimes customer data, reconcile variances and develop qualitative explanations to concisely summarize the results

  • Ability, desire and maturity to interface with executive management

  • Ability to manage discussions and influence decision stakeholders at all levels, often without direct authority

  • Capability to lead a team, and build and influence cross-functional teams to solve problems

Background

  • 7-10+ years of financial and/or analytical experience, which could be:

  • Financial (e.g., providing budget, forecast and business analysis support within a large sophisticated corporation)

  • Analytical (e.g,. top-tier consulting, i-banking, pricing analyst, etc.)

  • Technical (e.g., accounting)

  • A bachelor’s degree in quantitative field (Finance, Accounting, Economics, Math, Computer Science, Business, etc.); MBA is a plus

  • Top-tier schooling a plus

  • Prior management or leadership

  • Global or international perspective

  • REIT industry experience a strong plus
