Director, Global Event & Experiential Marketing

Engaging customers and prospects in those spaces will be key to our success.

As such, we are hiring a Director, Head of Global Event & Experiential Marketing who will be responsible for defining and driving a holistic plan for how our brand comes to life via in-person and virtual events across all of our business units and operating regions. The Events landscape is changing rapidly and this leader will need it all - entrepreneurial spirit, creativity to cut-through and manifest our brand, a strategic vision for where we are heading, a drive to build a technological roadmap to support all this and an ability to inspire a cross-functional team.   • Set the long-term vision for global events and experiences (brand, industry, technology, partner + Executive Briefing Centers) that is transformational and that transitions us from largely virtual today to hybrid and in-person in 2023

  • Build the strategy to create meaningful customer brand experiences, engagement and brand alignment that requires synthesizing multiple business objectives, stakeholders, audiences, technologies and skill sets

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to innovate, design and deliver impactful events/brand experiences that meet our objectives, set the bar and leverages the skills of the team

  • Partner with Brand and Field Marketing to ideate and innovate the way in which our brand shows up in the “real” world and connects with our customers and prospects; challenge existing thinking and push creative boundaries to deliver experiences that generate conversation and compel action.

  • Work across Iron Mountain’s business units, ensuring alignment on event strategy, selection, execution and measurement.

  • Oversee the events team operations, including hiring two new staff (for a total of four to start), the budget, driving organizational efficiencies, 3rd party management, technology innovation, measurement and reporting, tools and training.

  • Champion the team and strategy, and support continued learning and development for the team to grow skills and expand thinking

  • Explore and nurture contacts and relationships across the industry including thought leaders, partners, vendors and peers to position and champion innovation

  • Partner with IT/MarTech teams to continuously identify the right mix of technologies, apps, and vendors necessary to create incredible event experiences regardless of delivery format

  • Champion continuous evolution of key narratives, persona trends, and customer feedback.

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure events accomplish shared goals of building and accelerating pipeline, deal progress, existing customer share expansion, and community building.

  • Develop a strategy to identify, build, equip, staff, enable and launch a portfolio of Executive Briefing Centers (EBCs), starting with 1-2 strategic locations in the USA in 2023 and expanding internationally in 2024 and beyond. This also includes customer journey mapping for the pre-, during- and post-EBC visit and the experience or demos during the visit. Strong interlock with sales enablement, real estate, Marketing Technology, IT and operations required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA or higher in business, technology, marketing or equivalent experience

  • ​Experience managing complex, high-leverage high-profile events involving senior management and experience personalization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years of people management experience

  • B2B event management experience leading proprietary, 3rd party industry or executive events.

  • Experience running Executive Briefing Centers at large technology firm(s) a major plus.

  • Strong team leadership, team synergy and motivation skills

  • Successful track record of influencing and building consensus with cross-functional teams, stakeholders and partners

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to present and effectively interact with all levels including executive leadership

  • Expert knowledge of event and marketing strategies (online, in-person and hybrid), tactics, best practices and emerging practices.)

  • Proven track record for setting vision for B2B marketing strategy that propels brand awareness, wins new customers, and creates deep advocacy.

  • Proven ability to prioritize effectively while managing multiple competing operational priorities.

  • Ability to travel as required, globally.

Reports to: Senior Director, Enterprise Marketing

Direct Reports: four events managers, two of which you will hire. This team will grow in number and scope as our business grows, including the build out of Executive Briefing Center(s).
