SUMMARY

Reporting to the VP - IT Enterprise Architecture, this position will be a key Information Technology change agent in the digital transformation journey of Iron Mountain. Candidate will lead the enterprise data architecture, data integration, and global master data management initiatives, including business process re-engineering, data catalog & discovery, and data governance. Candidate will work directly with business process owners and stakeholders as well as data platform and application owners to ensure proper solution design for data integration, throughput, and reliability. Example objectives include maximization of data reuse, simplification of data discovery, honoring data privacy and access controls, fostering a culture of self-service, and enabling data science as a service. Enthusiasm for new technologies and ability to inspire cultural change is a must. Looking for an individual who can lead a team of data architecture and data engineers in a matrixed environment to foster standardized processes while achieving data affinity, simplification, and speed to achieve business results.

Candidates will possess the necessary balance of strategic vision coupled with hands-on leadership when needed. The Principal Architect - Enterprise Data must have the ability to design systems, processes, and procedures that scale to meet the needs, challenges, and opportunities of the organization. Moreover, they will need to build relationships across all layers of the organization.

This individual will be an outstanding communicator, capable of describing the business impact and cost justification of initiatives, as well as the transformational potential of emerging technologies. They must possess executive presence, communication, and senior-level influencing skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experience in large scale platform design and development in large global enterprises.

  • Experience working in public cloud and on-premise environments using cloud-native technologies like containers, Kubernetes, and service mesh.

  • Experience working with structured and unstructured big data and working with stakeholders to uncover insights in these data sets at scale.

  • Experience in techniques to implementation data stewardship governance for enterprise data lakes and perform master data management at enterprise scale

  • Experience in data privacy / protection regulations and how to build systems to ensure compliance while meeting the needs of the business

  • Ability to work closely with Enterprise Data Architecture and Enterprise IT Operations & Governance teams to streamline data flows and data governance

  • Experience in setting enterprise architecture technology standards and participating in the establishment of EA SOPs to maximize low-risk change through IT systems

  • Ability to work closely with IT security and program management teams in the delivery of IT services

  • Ability to work closely with the IT Leadership team to influence improvements to systems and processes

  • Develops and maintains productive relationships with business departments across the enterprise; manages system performance and availability to agreed standards

  • Actively drives the strategic partnership with key vendor and partner relationships

  • Has responsibility for hiring, training, motivating, and retaining top employees resulting in the development and maintenance of a high-performance team

  • Keeps abreast of industry trends through benchmarking, participation in professional associations, etc. in order to lead strategic business direction of the department

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or related field or equivalent experience

  • Strong knowledge of public cloud technologies and cloud economics including AWS, Azure, GCP

  • Strong knowledge of big data and data lake architecture

  • Strong background in building enterprise scale, high throughput, low latency platforms

  • Ability to bring SRE principles to the platform

  • Must be committed to a culture of continuous improvement

  • Exceptional customer service skills, in addition to extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with users, executives and senior leaders at all levels

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks

  • Strong communication, influencing, and presentation skills

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams with competing priorities

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • High level working knowledge of multiple complex software and hardware platforms including network architectures

  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high tech environment juggling multiple priorities while meeting deadlines

  • Previous knowledge of best in class Customer Service & Support teams

  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude in high pressure situations and manage distributed teams with competing priorities with tight deadlines

  • Acting as the IT escalation point of contact for Executives - ensure customers are highly satisfied with the service provided and that we are providing continuous improvement
