Responsibilities

This position will be managing a software development team requiring deep technical skills on Java tech-stack (MS tech-stack experience in addition tstrong java experience will be a plus) and initiative tsupport development projects as well as production support. In this key management role, the candidate must be a very hands-on technical manager and have the ability tlead a team of software engineers, software architects and QA engineers. The team is responsible for the design, implementation, testing, delivery and (production) support of software solutions for our internal and external customers both the java tech-stack and Microsoft tech-stack.

  • Responsible for building and sustaining a high-performing development team. Must have a firm understanding of how to develop people in the organization, manage and reward performance and take corrective actions proactively

  • Ensure consistent adoption of established SDLC practices on all development initiatives; identify improvement opportunities and implement them with a particular focus on improving the overall efficiency and reducing waste

  • Provide technical & management oversight on development initiatives

  • Provide broad expertise in the areas applications development and (production) support sthat current and planned applications and initiatives can be successfully delivered and integrated intthe Enterprise

  • Participate in design and code reviews and ensure that applications are consistent with the departmental, industry, enterprise and security architecture guidelines

  • Planning, organizing, directing, scheduling, communicating, and coordinating production support activities

  • Provide 3rd level support for applications and solutions owned by the group; work with peers in other parts of IT Operations/Infrastructure tsuggest and implement improvements toperating policies and procedures

  • Work with current Level 1, Level 2, and other Level 3 support groups tdeliver a consistent and superior customer service

  • Manage coding, testing, debugging, documentation, and maintenance of applications and solutions

  • Participate and actively contribute tdepartmental planning activities such as budgeting, training plans, team-building, etc

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in software development & support with a minimum of 4 years as a manager/technical lead with staff management and technical leadership responsibilities

  • Candidate needs thave management and leadership experience in addition tstrong technical expertise

  • Effective at defining and driving significant change management activities

  • Requires experience executing against all phases of the SW development life cycle

  • Must have a proven track record in managing and leading software development teams that delivered enterprise-class solutions on java tech-stack

  • Solid understanding of database concepts and previous experience with Oracle or SQL*Server

  • Must have solid understanding and proven experience in OOD and UML

  • Experience with one or more of the following will be a plus:.NET architecture and development, content management, portals, SOA architecture and design, identity management (IBM Tivoli-TIM/TAM is a strong plus)

  • Requires excellent oral, written, and presentation skills

  • Must be able toperate successfully in critical situations and collaborate effectively with peers and subordinates from various groups

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in business or computer science; may have post-graduate education or training
