Responsibilities

We are looking for a self-starter to join our dynamic data center marketing team. You will work on a wide variety of events and have the opportunity to engage with interdepartmental data center personnel and corporate marketing teams to understand customer needs, marketing/business priorities/objectives and translate/develop optimal event experiences. A key contributor in driving sustainable growth for Iron Mountain, your primary areas of focus will be managing the event budget, industry trade shows and conferences, networking events of varying sizes, local membership events, virtual events (webinars), data center tours, internal events and other events as identified as necessary. In support of these responsibilities, you will be able to demonstrate your strategic thinking, analytics, creative development, project and partner management, trend identification, and other capabilities in an environment that rewards initiative and enables strong performers to surpass their personal and professional objectives.

Key Responsibilities

General Event Responsibilities

  • Manage event budget, ensuring maximum transparency, adherence and return on investment

  • Create and manage detailed project/event plans, communicating effectively

  • Maintain awareness of event trends and industry standards

  • Work closely with Product Marketing Director, Digital Marketing Specialist, Divisional Marketing teams, Digital Agencies, IT and Customer Service support teams on all related event components

  • Work in a fast paced environment that requires project management skills, multi-tasking capabilities and meeting tight deadlines

  • Analyze and report on event performance and communicate results, recommendations

  • Manage event assets such as collateral, promotional items, booth, monitors and other items

  • Effectively negotiate event-related costs, getting more for less

  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors such as associations, talent agencies, AV shops, event companies and others

  • Identify existing and potential event partners who may share costs, offer MDF, extend reach and compliment offering, without competing or diluting the brand message

  • Ensure maximum sales integration with CRM, validating all event leads are entered in a timely manner and labeled correctly

  • Ensure events maximize assets for post-event outreach/publishing such photos and recordings

  • Trade Shows and Conferences

  • Establish pre-event meeting scheduling process to maximize performance, time management

  • Identify and clearly communicate expectations for sales personnel in attendance with regard to business card quotas, lead entry into CRM, and necessary roles/schedules while on-site

  • Maintain an up-to-date list of all industry events, their grades, and where competitors are presenting

  • Networking Events

  • Develop strong relationships with local sales and partner personnel, delegating where possible for intimate events

  • Membership Events

  • Engage with local membership communities to maximize membership ROI, consulting where possible to make events for effective without overcommitting valuable resources

  • Virtual Events

  • Identify the ideal platform with which to execute virtual events

  • Ensure proper technology planning and pre-event dry runs, eliminating day-of-event issues

  • Coordinate the extraction, storage, linkage and distribution of digital recordings, etc.

  • Tours

  • Create an efficient, effective and easily repeatable data center tour process at each location

  • Maintain proper advanced communication levels to ensure adequate operations preparation

Qualifications

Critical Skills, Experiences, and Attributes Required for This Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree and5-7 years event marketing experience in a B2B company or agency experience, data center experience a big plus

  • Must have strong negotiation skills and extensive experience with vendor contracting

  • Experience with SalesForce.com and Eloqua or similar CRM, Marketing automation tools a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple high-profile events at the same time

  • Strong budget management and reporting skills

  • Ability to motivate interdepartmental personnel to yield maximum event results

  • Strong public speaking skills

  • Must be a team player who can take direction on project assignments but is also able to work independently

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in large, complex organizational structures with rapidly changing requirements and shifting priorities

  • Significant travel required
