THE OPPORTUNITY

Title: Digital Encoding Operator

Location: Feltham, West London

Position type: Fixed term contract until 31 December 2025 (potential for extension)

Job summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Digital Encoding Operator to join us at Iron Mountain. In this position you will be working on a large and exciting video digitisation project for one of our well known clients. To be considered for this position you will have experience and knowledge of all primary professional video tape formats, file Codecs and containers.

The role will be based onsite in Feltham and will initially be offered as a fixed term contract until 31 December 2025 with potential for extension. This position will require working alternate weekends (working shift is 5 days Monday to Sunday)

Your role in our mission:

  • Capturing Video: Ingesting footage from various sources, including video tapes, cameras, hard drives, and online storage, into a digital environment.

  • Transcoding: Converting video files into different formats and codecs suitable for editing, often adjusting frame rates to match the project's requirements.

  • Organizing Media: Creating and maintaining a structured file system for easy access and management of footage.

  • Metadata Management: Adding relevant information (metadata) to clips for efficient search and retrieval.

  • Quality Control (QC): Ensuring that the ingested footage meets broadcast standards or project requirements.

  • Troubleshooting: Addressing any issues that may arise during the ingest process, such as file corruption or format incompatibility.

  • Working with Editing Systems: Familiarity with common editing software (like Avid or Adobe Premiere) and workflows is often required.

  • Collaboration: working and communicating with team members, supervisors and project manager to ensure smooth workflow and agreed daily volume deadlines

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage large amounts of data and maintain a structured workflow.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise during the ingest process.

  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy and quality in the ingested footage.

  • Communication: Effectively communicating with team members and reporting any issues.

  • Experience with legacy professional video formats
