The Iron Mountain Data Center (IMDC) team is seeking a highly motivated Data Center Site Manager to join our team in Frankfurt, Germany. You will become part of our dynamic, fast growing international organization.

The Senior Manager will be responsible for data center operations and customer service delivery, ensuring the proper operation of the critical infrastructure equipment supporting the data center, provisioning of customer services, and ongoing customer relationship management. They will have direct supervision of 1-2 managers and/or direct and indirect supervision of 10-25 operations technicians and support roles.

They have the primary responsibility to ensure that the facility’s power, cooling, and various other subsystems are operating at peak performance, are maintained according to IMDC and Manufacturer’s schedules and recommendations, meet Customer SLA’s in terms of redundancy and uptime, and that these activities are managed in accordance with all regulatory and compliance frameworks. This position is in a 7x24 environment with on call and call in requirements and responding outside of normal business hours will be required. This position is also responsible for developing the annual budget in support of these activities and ensuring budget adherence. As a Site Manager you have financial responsibilities with regards to Op Ex and Cap Ex procurement and monthly spend forecasting.

  • Manage data center critical facility infrastructure operations;

  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of mechanical, electrical, controls and building systems;

  • Management of program tasks related to development of method of procedures, incident management, and root cause analysis in a 24x7x365 environment;

  • Manage third party contract and relationship;

  • Review performance of staff and subcontractors, identify training needs, develop training plans, and plan training sessions to improve quality of service and staff development;

  • Build a site culture of customer service consistent with Iron Mountain’s brand and history, and ensure quality of service throughout the customer life-cycle;

  • Develop and maintain the relation with all relevant stakeholders within the customer domain;

  • Understand customer perceptions and needs to translate these into business goals;

  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity of the documentation of all installations including assets, locations, connectivity, power distribution, customer loads and SLA deviations;

  • Ensure Data Center facility complies with public utility, environmental, Federal, State, City and County, and other agencies as required;

  • Ensure proper implementation and execution of QHSE standards

Key Skills, Requirements and Competencies: (5-10 key requirements, competencies and skills for the job)

  • Technical High School/University Diploma or equivalent required

  • Six (6) to ten (10) years’ experience in a critical operations environment. Data center experience required, electrical maintenance experience preferred

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context to ensure we provide the best service to our customers possible

  • Ability to maintain a comprehensive understanding of the single line diagrams of all data centers in assigned location

  • Knowledge of the theory of operation of: Generators, double conversion UPS, transformers, circuit breaker panels, switchgear, centrifugal pumps, variable frequency drives, remotely actuated valves, cooling towers, chillers (including the refrigeration cycle), and heat exchanger

  • Familiarity with the procedures for performing hot work on energized electrical panels and protective equipment

  • Knowledge of the theory of data center fire detection and suppression

  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory including AC/DC power, power/voltage/current relationship, grounding, and electrical circuits

  • Ability to learn and retain sequence-of-operations for all data centers in assigned location, based on priority and skill of personnel

  • Ability to follow accurate and complete support procedures, system documentation, and issue tracking entries

  • Excellent PC skills with demonstrated proficiency in G Suite

  • Knowledge of the ITIL practices including Change management, Incident management and resolution

  • Good judgment and instincts in decision making

  • Ability to prioritize in complex, fast-paced environment

  • Able to demonstrate the ability to take ownership of technical issues

  • Experience building and managing teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both German and English -able to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, contractors and customers

  • Ability to stay focused, efficient, and effective in managing multiple priorities

  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Experience working in an International arena.
