Job Summary:

The Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician provides hardware and software technical support to IMDC internal & external customers, as well as performing maintenance, modification, and upgrades of all BMS, EPMS, and DCIM systems in the IMDC Global BMS (DCMS). The BMS Technician is the IMDC in-house “First Responder” for IMDC Global BMS issues, and is responsible for delivering timely and effective solutions that maintain system integrity and ensure continuous operational visibility.

Responsibilities:

  • Use WebCTRL engineering software to generate and/or revise programs and graphics as required, per the current IMDC standards (40%)

  • Provide WebCTRL & Coloview technical support to IMDC internal & external customers via telephone, email, IM and ServiceNow tickets as required (40%)

  • Provide technical support for all legacy BMS, EPMS and DCIM systems to IMDC internal customers until product retirement/replacement (10%)

  • Support all Global BMS projects by working closely with vendors and site management in all phases of integration/migration to include coordination, deployment, commissioning and user training 10%)

  • Perform basic functional testing and tuning of PID loops, redundancy features, and other control functions

  • Assist with creating, editing and reviewing BMS technical documentation

  • Assist with testing new hardware, software and applications (proof of concept)

  • Other duties as assigned

Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a full time ALC/WebCTRL Technician

  • Demonstrates a minimum five (5) years of experience working in a mission-critical environment with strong technical skills including electrical, mechanical and electronic systems.

  • Proven familiarity and competence with other non-ALC BMS, EPMS and/or DCIM software and hardware is preferred – three to five (3-5) years experience.

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while also able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Must have ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.

  • Self-starter, with demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex systems.

  • Ability to communicate and present effectively to all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to adjust work schedule to meet work requirements.

  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of HVAC and DDC control theory.

  • Understanding of low voltage electrical wiring, automation protocols, automation hardware, and typical low-voltage control devices.

  • Experience with installing and troubleshooting software in MS Windows environment.

  • Basic knowledge of BACnet, Modbus and other BMS/EPMS protocols and equipment required.

  • Understanding the fundamentals of TCP/IP & RS-485 Serial communications required.

  • Basic understanding of generating and executing test plans for functional testing preferred.

  • Strong commitment to rigorous and quality driven process methods.

  • Demonstrable desire to identify and communicate customer-facing and internal software, automation, and IT improvements.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally, typed and written. Includes reading, comprehending, and following documentation written in English.

Job / Physical Requirements/Qualifications:

Physical Requirements: Normal office functions and Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs

Travel Requirements: Total travel: 25%

Willingness to travel in excess of 25 percent of typical work week. Local & domestic (90%) and non-domestic (10%) travel may be required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a passport for non-domestic travel.

Minimum Education: High School; Prefer: Trade School, Associates degree

Experience: Minimum 2 years, prefer 4 years HVAC, Electrical, Mechanical systems, Water Coolers/Chillers and some IT Server experience.
