Responsibilities

The Senior Industrial Engineer will coach, mentor and provide leadership to field based management teams to improve their leadership skills and their team’s performance, production, service and quality as part of the internalization of the Performance Management Training (PMT) program into the Territory Optimization Program (TOP). The Senior Industrial Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert for operations management and team leadership skills across multiple business lines during field-based optimization projects. This position will review project baseline measurements, provide recommendations for workflow improvements and job station set up, review the local management’s daily/weekly operating plans, recommend improvements to the daily/weekly operation plan and coach the local management to achieve higher performance. The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for leading cross-functional teams to perform problem analysis, engineer and re-engineer a wide variety of business processes across multiple business lines. This position will also lead the development of engineered work standards and work targets using the MOST system and will introduce 5S/Lean principles throughout all physical business workflows. This position shall be an Iron Mountain Change Leader that others can easily partner with and follow. Further this position shall synchronize and coordinate his/her efforts with the other team members to maximize the overall value driven by the Operations Support Center of Performance Excellence.

  • Strategy – The Senior Industrial Engineer will facilitate business process re-engineering efforts within field markets. They will provide the lead role in driving process improvements, productivity enhancements and technological efficiencies across NAO operations. The Senior Industrial Engineer will use proven methodologies and software tools to analyze and categorize problems and opportunities.

  • Tactical – The Senior Industrial Engineer will define ‘as-is” and “to-be” models, perform gap analysis, and devise action plans based on overarching process models or master operating plans. This position will develop standard operating procedures, validate and report back to management on status of implementation. In addition, this position will work cross-functionally to develop end-to-end workflow processes as well as process documentation. The Senior IE will manage the pilot, roll-out, evaluation and assessment of re-engineered processes.

  • Culture & Communications – The Senior Industrial Engineer will interact with decision-makers to manage expectations and create synergy in efficiencies. The Senior IE will provide strong technical support to operational staff on best practices. Where needed coach local management to improve their leadership abilities and improved team performance and will analyze statistical data to determine standards and process requirements as well as quality metrics.

Qualifications

  • Three plus years in Operations Management or Engineering required. Manufacturing experience a plus

  • Ability to apply decisions, and to think in broad terms, considering the impact of decisions across the entire company

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels within the Iron Mountain Enterprise

  • Excellent written, oral and formal presentation skills

  • Demonstrated success in business Industrial re-engineering, ability to produce enduring, effective solutions to business problems; benchmarking, project management, strong analytical problem solving skills, and action-oriented with the ability to deliver timely and positive results

  • Willing to travel extensively across NAO field operations on a frequent basis

  • This Senior Industrial Engineer shall be an IM Change Leader that others can easily follow and partner with. This role shall also ensure that Iron Mountain’s Core Values are upheld and that the acceleration of Optimization shall be along the Operational Excellence Tracks of Service, Production and Quality and that this Optimization shall be achieved in a high quality, employee centric fashion.
