Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director - Technology Operations, this position will be a key IT change agent in the digital transformation journey for Iron Mountain. Looking for a Cloud Operations Lead strong in public cloud concepts, has cloud governance experience, can drive cloud enablement at Iron Mountain.

Improve upon our cloud enablement strategy and operational processes while working alongside internal customers daily such as Architects, Project Managers, and business leaders. This includes implementation of governance guardrails that enable security and financial constraints. The Ops Lead role is highly technical yet there is no requirement for actual coding.

Candidates can demonstrate they possess the necessary balance of governance vision coupled with business relationship communication as well as the technical capability to fulfill cloud enablement requests. The Cloud Ops Lead must be able to triage incoming cloud requests by overlaying various technology, security, and finance governance policies. Then communicate with business and technical counterparts across all layers of the organization to negotiate and compromise on an enablement solution that adheres to our governance strategy. Once vetted, you then have the technical capabilities to fulfill the cloud request and/or lead a team who can fulfill the cloud enablement.

The candidate will be capable of conversing about the non-compliance of corporate standards, and adherence to security best practices, and discuss cost justification & optimization recommendations. There will be times the candidate uses communication and senior-level influencing skills, or be capable of growing quickly to have this capability.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enhance and maintain the current cloud enablement processes while adhering to our governance strategy for onboarding public cloud accounts. This includes the implementation of cloud operations guardrails

  • Triage incoming cloud requests. Guide technical and non-technical customers through the enablement process. Effectively communicate when you need more details, or to compromise on the enablement, or respectfully deny the request.

  • Collaboration with the risk and compliance organization to create cloud governance policies that adhere to auditable security standards in the Cloud.

  • Work daily with other cloud operations team members on both operational processes, but aso tooling/automation that allows us to move faster without quality loss.

  • Responsible for the standardization and rollout of all public cloud accounts (and IAM account access) across multiple cloud providers, such as GCP, AWS, Azure, Oracle OCI.

  • Implement and mature cloud financial mechanisms to ensure there is cost accountability, cost visibility, and cost optimization for all cloud usage across the organization.

  • Works closely with cloud vendors such as Google, Amazon, and Microsoft which may be acting as an ambassador, or a facilitator, or even a negotiator for Iron Mountain.

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

Number of Years of Work Experience: Number of Years of Work Experience: 5+ years in a technical cloud role preferably DevOps or Operations.

Required Skills:

  • Strong grasp of cloud technologies and services within AWS, Azure, GCP, and/or Oracle OCI.

  • An understanding of infrastructure-as code and the configuration tool Terraform.

  • Exceptional customer service skills, in addition to extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively (influencing, presentation skills) with all levels of the organization with the ability to focus on business or technical aspects.

  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail, and capable of prioritizing team workloads.

  • An understanding and/or strong interest in Cloud FinOps, such as driving cost savings, establishing budgets, enabling cost visibility for the Enterprise.

  • Willingness and desire to be part of a team that is service-focused based upon the incoming demand for cloud services and to host cloud applications.

  • Ability to direct teams who are in non-compliance with the NIST framework to make changes.

Preferred Skills:

  • Hands-on DevOps or Operations experience with GCP or AWS.

  • Hands-on working experience with Terraform and GitLab.

  • Customer-focused, which means respectful, thoughtful, attention to detail, strong finishing skills, best-in-class customer service.

  • Working knowledge of network architectures.

  • Possesses Cloud Practitioner Certifications and desire to continuously improve.

Education: BS/BA degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or related field or equivalent experience.
